"The Golden Compass" was written by Phillip Pullman who is an atheist like myself... Its based on the first book in his Dark Materials Trilogy called "Northern Lights"... Its a 3 book set, the next one being "The Subtle Knife"... The last book is "The Amber Spyglass", the books have sold over 15 million copies world wide... Phillip has said that his books are all about killing God and undermining Christian beliefs... These children's books have won many prizes and awards, the Carnegie Medal of Children's Literature in 95 and again in 07... The last one "The Amber Spyglass" won The Whitbread Prize in 2001, the very first children's book to ever do so... I thought "The Golden Compass" was a great movie, and I do hope to see the other two on the big screen... I don't dislike Christian's, some of my best friends are Christian's... But I do wish you peeps would wake up and smell the coffee, and stop fighting and killing one another over who has the best imaginary friend...
