Tell me the difference between anime and cartoons? Because what I know about these two is that they are just the same. Anime is a cartoon made from Japan while cartoon is an anime created in the US. Did I confuse you already?

I would like to refer to wikipedia on the meaning of thes two.
Anime - is an abbreviation of the English word "animation", originating in Japan through the roots of manga.[1][2] Although the term is used in Japan to refer to animation in general, in English usage the term most popularly refers to material originating from Japan, a subset of animation.

Cartoon - Because of the stylistic similarities between comic strips and early animated movies, "cartoon" came to refer to animation, and this is the sense in which "cartoon" is most commonly used today. These are usually shown on television or in cinemas and are created by showing illustrated images in rapid succession to give the impression of movement.

This is not to prove that I am right, which I am. But for us to know exactly what these two are. They are both animation created from drawings. But the only difference is the country where they have originated.
