I almost never wear spandex and I'm not terribly fast. I'm not fast because of my build. Look at pro cyclists they are all little wiry guys. I'm six five and two hundred and ten pounds. I catch a lot of wind. Other cyclists look down their noses at me because I don't have the look. They go into shock when they find out my old touring bike has 20,000 miles on it. I have been considering writing an article on road etiquette for cyclists but most cycling magazines are so focused on racing I'm afraid I may have some trouble finding a publisher. Only cycling magazine I really thought spoke to me went belly up almost 25 years ago.

Well I was never a very fast rider myself being 6 foot tall... I did ride a racing bike but only because you get the most travel out of the least effort, you know kinda like a economy car... But that summer I rode to and from work everyday weather permitting, it was a 15 mile ride one way... We had showers at work so I'd leave for work an hour and 10 minutes early... And then I'd ride on the weekends too, but I eventually developed a weight problem... I just couldn't eat enough to keep weight on, I got down to 165 lbs... I look like skin stretched over a skeleton... I felt great, but I looked like a zombie... So I cut back and then I had the spill and then I pretty much quit riding altogether... But I was never part of the cycling culture anyway... About as close as I came was reading the magazines and drooling over the new bikes and component groups...
