I've never had an issue
I rent them for my son before popping for the purchase. Quite often, he can beat the game in a weekend so doesn't want to buy it by the time the game gets returned. I've only had a bad disk one time and Blockbuster exchanged it and extended the rental by the extra day. If you have a Gamestop nearby, try buying the used games. Newer games are still pricier but their games are guaranteed just like the new ones so no risk as long as you save the receipt. I've bought a lot of games for my son there.
