I think I would have to go with Super Mario Bros World personally.
There was just this perfection to the entire game, and it was also the game which helped introduce the world to the powers available on the then brand new Super Nintendo system.
The level design was nearly unmatched at the time, and still stands as an example on how to do a platform game right.
