Wow. this was a fun one. I downloaded this update for my secondary PS3 upstairs that does not have a lot of files on it. I waited for the update to be done and then I started the install. Then, I went downstairs and started it on my main PS3 in my theatre room. I started the install and went to check on the first one....I could not start the sytem up after the install. The main screen came on I got the music and then just waves. I panicked and ran back downstairs to find that the install was already done. I freaked out but luckily that machine was fine.
I called Sony about the install and they rufused tro warranty my second unit because I got it from work and I did not have a STORE receipt.

. They told me there was nothing they could do even though the manufacture date was 3 months ago. I asked if this was a widespread problem and they told me they did not know.
I got off the phone and got online only to find out that many machines were doing the same thing and had to be sent to Sony to be fixed. 2 hours later Sony pulled the update. While I was online I found that taking the drive out of the PS3 and hooking it up to a pc and wiping the drive would fix it. I did so and hooked it back into the PS3 and all was normal. I lost all of my music, videos, and game save files but it retained the new firmware upgrade. It was a five minute process.
Sony's customer service SUCKS!!!! and I will never trust another firmware until I have backed up my files.......
