Any way to get us suckers to shell out even more money, huh?

Yeah, but I stll love my 7.1 system even though I don't get the HD sounds from it. It still sounds amazing.

So does yours just have a passthrough?

My new living room isn't big enough for a 7.1 system. I don't think it would be worth it.

Yeah it's passthrough only and cannot decode the HD codecs. But it does mix 5.1 to 7.1 very nicely. I mainly got mine because it was a package deal with speakers.

Someone convince me that buying 18 BluRays at $16.17 each was a steal and worth all 18 double dips.

It's only worth it in my eyes if they will be watched. And I don't mean once every 3 years. That is a great deal and hard to pass up. It depends on how much you like those movies. And I don't really consider buying anything on BD as a double dip. HD is whole new beast and the best quality you can get. All movies on HD are an upgrade rather that a DD.

Yeah, $16 is fantastic for Blu-ray's, that's about where new SD DVD's are running nowadays when they're first released! Of course the special 2 disc versions always seem to be higher, so that makes this deal even better. I mean 18 movies is a lot to buy all at once, but since you'll have them for quite some time, it'll balance out in the end.

I just ditched a bunch of SDs in order to replace them with BDs. Stuff that I consider 'archive' titles, like 2001, A Clockwork Orange, Starship Troopers and pretty soon Firefly.

I'm going to continue to be cautious about my buying. I'll replace titles only that I feel I'll really appreciate on Blu-Ray, not just get 'em for their own sake.

Like yesterday I bought Nightmare Before Christmas. I mean... C'mon! It's a must-have.

I love Nightmare Before Christmas. But, I noticed some issues with the video on the BD. It is great to finally be able to see this movie in all its anamorphic glory.
