Default Using Existing Dish?

I recently moved into an apartment building with a Dish Network and another dish already installed in my apartment. Not sure why they would just leave the dishes since the company owns them or you pay a deposit, but can I just call the company to have service connected or do I have to get my own dish?

I'd just look 'em up in the Yellow Pages, call and ask them. We have a different dish system here and they claim they'll move your stuff over for you, but I don't know off hand if its the same dish or a replacement dish - giving the new tenants the option to keep your old dish.

Haven't moved with the service yet to know more.

Don't call a major service provider...they may want to sell you a new dish. Instead just call a local satellite installer, they probably install and sell both Direct TV and Dish Network.
