Default Sleeping Beauty

Sleeping Beauty came out on blue ray a couple of weeks ago. The movie itself hasn't been sold for a while, and of course its the first of the not computer animated Disney's to hit blue ray.

It looks nice in the 3 disc set, but is it worth it? For something like a hand drawn, very old animated movie-are the improvements over DVD going to be noticeable?

On Blu-Ray it's bonkers. Really. It's a definite showcase disc. The colors and depth-of-field make the film leap off the TV.

The coolest thing is the fully interactive Disneyland 'Sleeping Beauty's Castle' walkthrough, which has been closed to the public for decades.

The 3rd disc is the film on regular DVD, so you can let the kids' watch it without wrecking your DB disc.

Lmao! It sounds like Disney had a plan there when they did that!

The castle sounds pretty awesome-you've almost sold me on the set and I don't have a blue ray player yet.

I don't know about DVD but I can say that the Blu-ray version is astounding. I have never seen anything like it. The best looking restored film I have ever seen.

Yup, anyone who questions the point of a 50-year-old hand-animated film being on BD can look at Sleeping Beauty.

I have to applaud Disney for consistently knocking it out of the park. The bonus features on this set are bananas.

Wow...if I didn't own this on DVD already, I'd purchase this release.

I wasn't questioning it just being mean or anything, just cynical. I have seen a few of the restored films (like Lady and the Tramp) and wasn't so impressed. Certainly not enough to go out and buy it again.

Thanks, it sounds worth a squiz.
