This all really makes me wonder. There have been so many advances in technology over the years-where will we be in twenty years? Cinemas in our homes?

Nah, we'll all be plugged into wall sockets like in the Matrix soon enough.

People have cinemas in there homes now Passitdown...
I think that is more of a matter of whether you are willing to devote that much money and interior
space in your home to a home theater... As for advances in technology and where we will be in 20 years...
Well we have made more advances in technology in the past 100 years than we have in all the time before that...
And then you have to counter in the fact that the advances are speeding up, like we've advanced more
in the past 25 years than we have in the 75 years before that... Taking all that into account
I'm going to step out on a limb here and say yes I think cinemas in our homes will be
pretty common place in 20 years, if we are not all plugged into the Matrix by then...

I know that they have them, but its the rich who have plenty of money to throw around who do, not the every day Joe! That's what I was referring to.

I am still using DVD's and even a little VHS, and I really don't see much of a reason for me to upgrade anytime soon. My TV is too old anyway, and I would rather not have to re-purchase my DVD collection on Blu-Ray, even if I had the money and my whole collection had been released on it. With the way the economy is, I think people really need to get their priorities straight.

You can have a decent home theatre and not spend an arm and a leg. I have one at my house, and my buddies have even better ones. Mine is still a SDTV with a Kenwood 5.1 surround sound system, that's all you need for basic home theatre. Now my buddies have 46" + plasma and LCD HDTV's that display 720p and 1080p respectively with very good sounding Onkyo 7.1 surround sound systems with enough bass to give you a back massage as you're watching a movie. So there are plenty of options out there for every budget.

Well for anyone wanting to get into a home theater cheap Woot.com is selling a TV projector for $179.99
with $5.00 shipping for today and today only... Its not a hi-def system, but it sounds like a good deal...
I mean you can project a TV image up to 70 inches in size...
And it will connect to your computer and video game systems too...
So maybe if you have issues with blue ray this is for you...
