Is there a book you were forced to read in your education years that you actually enjoyed reading? I thought it was going to be torture to read To Kill A Mockingbird, but as it turns out I love that book!
I thoroughly enjoyed The Scarlet Letter but never read Heart of Darkness or Mill on the Floss. I was an avid reader anyway so had usually enjoyed just about anything. Never liked reading Shakespeare, though - hated trying to decipher the old English wording.
i didn't think i'd like george eliot's mill on the floss, but it wasn't too bad.
but i still hate the scarlett letter and heart of darkness! lol
Heart of Darkness was a book to slit your wrists to stop the torture
I tried reading it after high school to see if I would finally get it..but no I still hated it!
To Kill a Mockingbird is still one of my favorite books. I also really like Bury My Heart at Wounded Knee, Tom Sawyer, Z is for Zachariah, and Catcher in the Rye. But I detested the Scarlett Letter, The Crucible, and The Glass Menagerie... UGH!
