Default Animal Farm

I read this book a long time ago when I was a child, I later used it in literature class in high school. It's about some farm animals who took over the farm from their human owners and made up their own rules, to say the least, it was hilarious.

I don't quite know if I'd use the word hilarious. A monkey throwing his poop is hilarious. Animal Farm is recognized as a scathing allegory for the Russian Revolution and the ensuing Stalin regime.

This, as well as Orwell's 1984 should be manditory reading for all politicians.

I'm surprised someone didn't like this! I loved this book. It's theme is so political and yet it was brought to light in very simple terms. And although it's an allegory to Stalin's dictatorship, anyone who has lived through or witnessed or even knows of the oppression of a powerful few can relate to this book. I would read it again.

Orwell remains one of the best and most frighting prophetic authors to ever pick up the pen, and Animal House is certainly a masterpiece on it's own, without even factoring in Orwell's other work. There was also a movie based on it too, but I am yet to see that.

There's an animated flick of Animal Farm. Not that good. It could really use a 21st century update.

I studied "Animal Farm" in high school and I think the book, though a relatively short one, is a masterpiece. The characters are so real to life. My most memorable quote is one of Napoleon's, "all animals are created equal - but some are more equal than others."

I read that book before entering high school so I didn't get all of that political stuff, it was a funny read, with the animals taking over.

Animal Farm wasn't on our mandatory reading list, and never took my fancy to read either. 1984 on the other hand was a very disturbing read, and I agree it should be issued to all politicians when they decide to run.

A Brave New World would be the other of the incredibly disturbing looks into the future, and I'm about half way through it for my second read. I read it when I was about 12, and this time around there are so many things I am seeing that I didn't really get the meaning of before.

I don't think I appreciated this book as much as a teen as I did as an adult. I never really understood some of Orwell's language when I was 15. I actually admire now as an adult a lot of Orwell's beliefs.
