I just watched this film yesterday and I would say also that the first one is better, well as most movies are. Finding the first treasure was more exciting because the plans are more elaborate. On the sequel, the writers made a shortcut on the plans to get the treasure. They assumed that the viewers have watched the former movie and I think it is a bad assumption.
In my own review of the movie, they have wasted a lot of time for the yelling scenes with Ben Gates and his wife then also on the yelling arguments on Ben Gates' parents. I know those scenes are needed but they are too long. |

I'm looking forward to seeing this one as I managed to get free tickets courtesy of Mercedes. I don't go to the movies much, but you can't beat two free tickets so I will be enjoying an evening at the theater. Sequels never seem to be as good these days.

I haven’t watched it yet, but I think that this is better than the first one since Ed Harris will be working with a bunch of goons like you already said. It will be more exciting than the first one; I say that the more action on it, the more excited I will be.
Why did you say that the first one was better? ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |

I think the strength of the Nationa Treasure movies is in the character Gates' brilliance in figuring out the puzzles. In the 1st one there was a lot and the movie really took us through the history of the country, the significance of the symbols and all that good stuff (especially if you're a puzzle-geek, like me). But the 2nd movie sort of seemed to breeze through the puzzle-solving so I really liked the 1st one more especially on that aspect.

Even though Ed Harris is there, the film concentrated on family matters and not on finding the treasure. I have the DVD of the first national treasure and what snookumsnort said was absolutely true. The puzzle-solving in the sequel was shorten and it became like more on a drama/comedy and not adventure movie. Although the second part is not so bad to watch but I guess they could do better than that.
I'm guessing there would be a 3rd one because on the last part of the movie, there is this question/puzzle about page 47 or 43 or whatever page it is which I cannot remember. |

From the looks of the trailer, it’s more on the action. In the movie, Gates will be force to work with a group of bad guys just like the first one but less on the solving puzzle. I didn’t like the first movie that much because I was bored just to watched all those puzzle solving scenes. ![]() |
