So technically it's not out yet. It was originally scheduled to be released the 11th of this month but is now pushed back to the 18th because of all the positive hype around it. Execs thought it could do very well against Cloverfield and what with it being MLK day weekend, it would help box office totals for the opening weekend.
Here's a little info about it for those who haven't heard about it. (You can get more details and a full list of the actors in it at it's imdb page27 Dresses (2008)) It stars Katherine Heigl (my reason for going to see it) and James Marsden. Heigl plays Jane, a woman who can't say no to others and has been a bridesmaid 27 times and has the dresses to prove it. The plotline as IMDB puts it: "After serving as a bridesmaid 27 times, a young woman (Heigl) wrestles with the idea of standing by her sister's side as her sibling marries the man she's secretly in love with." It's a romantic comedy but I hear it has great potential. Anyone else going to see it? I'll be sure to post a review after I see it but I thought I'd get the hype going about it now. If this does very well, that would make two movies in a row starring Katherine that did well (Knocked Up being the other) and could possibly mark her crossover from tv to the big screen. |
