Default Theatres Overwhelming For Little Ones?

Well we went to see Horton yesterday and it was a total blast! She knew the story well from the book already, and so was whooping and hollering along with the film-and you could see that she was really into it!

But the credits came around and we got our stuff together when she started crying. "Mummy, I need something to vomit in" she said to me, and her sobbing got harder. I got the lid off my empty cup just in time for her to fill it.

So-is the excitement just too much? As much as we loved it, we had a terrible day afterwards and so I am not sure how soon we will repeat the trip.

Awww, that's awful!! I've never had that sort of experience with little ones, so maybe she just got too excited throughout the whole thing and it all came out...literally. Also, did she happen to have any soda and/or popcorn....the combination with excitement may have just boiled over.

Give the poor kid a break Rick !!! It was just a bit too much excitement,
don't penalize her for one little mishap... It could happen to anyone,
it sounds like she had a really good time at the show up to that point...
I'm thinking it was probably just a one time thing... The theater can
be pretty overwhelming the first time out... Give the poor kid
another chance, I bet it will never happen again...

Could have just been a random occurrence. I know when I was a little kid I threw up after eating tomato soup and potato chips. I've never done it before or after that. And I didn't get sick again that day or have any real reason. Sometimes I think things just sit funny with you as a little kid.

The poor thing. Why don't you ask her how she felt about going to the theatre and whether she wants to go again, maybe next year or next holidays when she's a little older and there's another movie released.

Oh yeah she wants to go again! She loved it!

Copycat, give her a break from what? I was seriously impressed with her. She asked for something to vomit in for heaven sake (even at her young age)-not a single drop went anywhere but my cup! A wipe of the mouth and we moved out, disposing of the offending cup as we left-perfect. And she was fine once it happened too.

I was simply wondering if others had experienced this and whether it was the theatre, over excitement etc. If it's over excitement then I could do something to help by, er, not talking to her about it for a week.....not building up the excitement....er....yeah, see what I mean? We really worked on this being a fun thing rather than "Ok you're going to sit in a dark room and watch a show that's two hours long. Gee, won't it be fun-oh, and you need to stay sat down the whole time".

I wanted her to enjoy it, and be expecting something fun-however, that may have been too much for her.

Anyway, back to the subject at hand....
