Default Wall-E

Has anyone seen this yet? What was it like-worth seeing? What's the age appropriateness for it-does it match it's certificate?

And why does he look like the Short Circuit robot?!

I'm sure the animators at Pixar have seen it, as well as the Disney executives.

The rest of us will have to wait until June 27th, when it opens.

And the Johnny 5 comparison has come up before, mostly because Wall-E appears to be sort of cobbled together from old parts. The eyes look to be re-purposed binoculars.

The very first time I saw the teaser for this movie, I wasn't overly captivated by the looks of it... I'm certainly not counting down the days until it's release. That being said, I am normally a sucker for animated films, so I'll keep an open mind once it comes out and see what people have to say about it.

I would say that "Wall-E" looks like it would be entertaining for kids of all ages AbigailD...
And that incudes kids my age... I found this info on the start of the story...
I found more, but I don't want to tell you too much about it...
But I think this will be enough to perk your interest....

"Earth in fact has become so toxic that -- centuries before our story actually gets underway -- mankind has abandoned the planet. We're now all living aboard the Axiom, this massive spaceship that circles high overhead. Waiting for the day that the planet once again becomes inhabitable.

But the only problem is that mankind hired this enormous, inept corporation -- Buynlarge -- to supervise the clean-up effort. And that company -- in turn -- sent hundreds of thousands of robots down to the planet's surface to pick up all of the trash.

But Buynlarge's Waste Allocation Load Lifters -- Earth Class units really weren't up to the task. And so -- over the centuries -- these robots slowly began breaking down. Until now (as the film's story finally, officially gets underway) there's only one WALL E left running on the entire planet.

And so every morning, this WALL E powers up and then tries to accomplish the task that he's been programmed to do. Which is pick up all of the trash that's been scattered around the Earth. It's obviously an impossible job. But still this robot (with the help of his pet cockroach, Spot) does what he can every day."

And by the way, this is pretty much a silent movie...
Now you can watch a preview below here...

I'm looking forward to this movie, although I'm not a kid and don't have any (so I know next to nothing about age-appropriateness). I am a big pixar fan and I own all the other movies, so I will definitely be checking out this one as soon as it hits the screen!

I also am looking forward to seeing this one. I love the Pixar movies usually - made for kids or not. Guess I'm just a big kid at heart. I thought Wall-e looked like Johnny 5, too, which is probably half the reason I want to see it. I loved the Short Circuit movies. My other favorite of this type is Batteries Not Included, which is adorable.

Ahhhhhh, my bad! I saw the trailer at a movie we saw a good number of months ago so I just assumed that it would have come out by now. I am actually a little disappointed that it hasn't.

Copycat, thanks, you've sold me on it!

Thanks for all the info and the trailer! I think we'll definitely see it... maybe even take my daughter for her first in-theatre movie!

They are really hyping this one for some reason. We saw a trailer back in February I think and they have had a lobby cutout for at least as long at our local theater. Not sure why such a long wait compared to the advertising and hype....

...we will be seeing it though. Very excited and the fact that it looks like the robot in Short Circuit is definitely geek-friendly.

Pixar always does a slow-burn in their advertising strategy. Every time one of their films hits DVD there's always a teaser trailer for the next film, even if it's more than a year away.

It's smart strategy, because people start talking about their films months before any formal advertising campaign even begins.
