I know many of us would not have heard about her before, but in her circles she was a real gem. She was 20 years with 4 days away from her 21st birthday. She basically gave up on life.

You'd think she would have at least waited till after the 21st party. can you imagine what a great party she would have probably had being a super model? Poor thing must have been pretty hopeless.

Hard to say something about a person you know nothing about when it comes to upbringing and pressure. People are varyingly stronger and weaker, but everyone has a breaking point. It's easy falling back on being condemning, judgemental and despising of another persons actions, than it is to remain neutral. If you have no clues to all the details, then you have no grounds for having an opinion about it.
I know nothing, therefore i remain silent. But i am sad that things have to end like this for people, surprisingly many of the people who commit suicide are actually the nicest people. A buddy of mine who kicked the bucket a couple of years ago by his own hand, were one of those you'd never suspect to have issues. Most likely the nicest person i come across, to this day im not entirely sure why he did it. All i know is that minds are different, and any demons that people may have in there is something i wouldn't and couldn't understand how they must be to wrestle with. I have learnt my lessons long ago not to have any pre-convicted notions about anything regarding human nature. From everything i have seen and heard, i have been taught to be humble, and very appreciative of the mind i have. |

![]() Carl you certainly have a way with words, I think I have probably said that before... I don't see how anyone could find fault with your reasoning... I think in this case of Ruslana Korshunova, we have all seen it before... There seems to be something about sudden fame and fortune that makes people have suicidal tendencies... I find this story sad, but not all that surprising...

What was really sick was the way the press handled this. I know there are no laws against showing dead people on TV, but the news stations had no need to other than to shock. Using a person's death for their own gain, when their family would be having such a hard time is just twisted.

lol I think you're right about your accession about all that sudden fame and fortune. It does come from really hard work, and most of the time it's ridicelous amounts of it. In order to stay fameous and well known you have to keep alot of clients and contracts, which puts ALOT of psychological pressure on people. Deadlines and professional demands on a daily basis i think can get too much. And having contracts, you can't just turn them down or call in sick. But i do find it strange that people under pressure never seem to consider another career, or just take a dayjob and figure out any other job that has less stress and pressure that they can cope with. I believe that people like Ruslana acts out of desperation, like when people just snap and aren't themselves anymore. Which i believe is the real travesty, i don't think they all want to die. They just don't see any way out of their current situation... But then again, what do i know. Trying to make sense of these things is impossible i suppose. There is so much more to a person's life than merely beauty, and it is really hard to understand without knowing the whole story on what could bring somebody to suicide.
There are any number of reasons, and they may not all be simple matters either. Even still, this is sad to see somebody die so young. |
