Seems she reacted to Proposition 8 in California. I guess she feels like she doesn't have to pay taxes either.
Melissa Etheridge to California: 'You Can Forget My Taxes' - Melissa Etheridge : People.com "Gay people are born every day. You will never legislate that away." I love this quote. She's so right. |

If we all stopped paying our taxes because we disagreed with government policies there would be a lot of hurting people out there. Anyone receiving any type of assistance from a government funded program would be out of luck. That includes the public welfare system and social security. While I agree a lot of programs need reformed, their are legitimate reasons for most of them and our country would be hurting without them.

Well, I guess saying we will stop paying our taxes is better than my grandfather's solution to everything. Every time the politicians did anything Gramps didn't agree with his solutin was always the same, just line'em up and shoot'em all. Don't get me wrong. Gramps loved this country and was proud of his service in WWII. But he was always convinced that, if we didn't keep the guys in Washington in line, we'd end up like some of these countries we were off fighting in. Gramps has been gone for about eight years now but I still here his voice whenever Washington screws up or at least whenever Gramps would think they had screwed up.
