Default What does a movie need to be great?

We have different ways to see a good or bad movie. We also have some "list" of the conditions a movie needs to meet so that we consider it to be great. Some have in the list: "a nice male actor", "has to have bombs", "has to have some hot love scenes" etc.

How does your "list" look like? What does a movie need to be great?

Hmm, I don't know that I have any conditions... I do have likes and dislikes... I like fights, shoot outs, car chases, stunts, stuff blowing up, cats getting killed in any way, car crashes, pretty scantly dressed women, Sex scenes are good, but not the kind that show all the plumbing... That gets me too excited and I forget what the movie is about... I dislikes scenes that show a guy and girl walking on the beach talking... Or any really sad or happy emotional scenes where they have those damn violins playing in the back ground... Those damn movie people have me trained with those violins, they start playing, and my eyes start welling up with tears... Thats fricking embarrassing, so I stay away from those movies...

I don't have any particular in mind. Movies are just past time, I don’t take it seriously to the extent that I will have to watch it every week. I just love to watch movie whenever I’m in the mood. I think that it must have a great story, special effects, and great actors and actresses for it to be on my list.

I like movies that cover a gamut of emotions, i.e ones that aren't entirely sad or entirely funny throughout. I also enjoy movies that make you think about things as well as focus on issues.

A movie needs to surprise me in some way, and have me thinking about it afterwards. AI was a good movie in that respect. If it can't do that, then it should at least make me laugh.

Amen to that on both points, I couldn't agree more!
