Default Black and White a Turnoff?

I've seen some really good old classics that were in black and white, but as a general rule, if I'm browsing through the channels for a movie, I'm not even going to think twice about passing by anything in black and white.

Do you still watch the old classics in black and white?

I also tend to skip over a move that's black and white. I guess it's because I assume that if it's black and white, then it's old and I'm not going ot enjoy it as much as something from my era anyway. I don't have a lot of patience when channel flicking.

When I first seen this, I thought it was going to be a racist thread...
I have watched the "Wizard of Oz" and it starts out in black and white...
Does that count ???

There are a handful of films that I love, that are black and white. James Stewart was a genius, 'It's a Wonderful Life', 'Harvey' and so on. And 'The Birds' of course by Hitchcock.

But I wouldn't watch many others unless there was nothing else to watch.

Sin City was filmed mostly in black and white. It was nicely done, in my opinion. Its true that whenever I see movies that are in black and white, I usually think that it is an old movie. The only black and white show that I still watch today are the cartoons, although not so often.

I don't have a problem with black and white. If the movie is good enough it will hold up over time. Sure the special effects might not be as good as they are now, but the story and the acting would be-if it's a good one that is.

I LOVED Sin City. I was so upset it didn't do as well in some areas or even play near me.

I rather like black and white films and can think of quite a few I enjoy watching including westerns and old Hitchcock flicks. I don't flip over anything without spending 10sec deciding if its worth watching, but we only have basic cable.
