Default Quiet My Mind

It's 3:24 am and I have so far wasted two perfectly good hours lying awake in bed. Two hours in which I could have done so many other useful things instead of trying to right the world from my pillow.

I have stuff on my mind. I have some stress in my life, who doesn't? But there are some very immediate issues to deal with (like a court appearance on Thursday).

ARG! Being up all night isn't going to help any of this?! Why can't I just stop my brain thinking about this stuff?

Hey I don't think that could be any better stated. I don't like taking sleeping pills at all but I have when its been really bad. Stress is a sure way to lose sleep and the ability to function through it all, try and rest whatever means you can.

Most sleep doctors will tell you if you don't fall asleep after 30 minutes to just get back up. Laying in bed tossing and turning makes it harder to get to sleep not easier. Turning off your mind isn't something that comes overnight either, you can teach yourself to stop worrying before bed, but it will take some trying to find a strategy. I normally make a list of stuff for the next day so I won't worry all night I'll forget it. Once its all accounted for I can rest alot easier.

My co-worker had the same dilemma too. She keeps a pen and notebook beside her bed and writes down everything she thinks about to get it out of her system. It seems to help her catch the needed zzz's.

I, however, opt for a more natural approach. I bought a Badger Balm to help me sleep and that seems to work quite well for me when I'm having trouble falling asleep.
