Dark Knight - Superhero Movies Snubbed at Oscars?

I saw a number of reactions about Dark Knight not gaining an Oscar nomination for Best Picture.

I was hoping it would be nominated but they were saying the Academy Awards body has a reputation of thinking that any movie about superheroes is not worthy of an award.

I haven't seen any of the nominated movies but I'm wondering how far from these movies Dark Knight is to not warrant a nomination.

I CANNOT stand the Oscars. All it is anymore is political platform for celebs and the academy itself obviously has an agenda to push. I say that because the Dark Knight is without a doubt the best movie of the last year.

As I understand Heath Ledger had a supporting-actor nomination for "The Dark Knight",
but the movie itself was shut out of all the other top categories like best picture and director...
I think it had eight nominations, but it was stuff like visual effects and cinematography and
I don't remember what else... I will look foreward to seeing the out come of the Oscars, but as for
the show itself I have never in my life watched it... I really don't understand peoples fascination with it...
If I were a actor or a fashion designer I would probably like watching it... I do usually watch a little bit of those
news shows after the show to find out what the picks were... Their kinda like the cliff notes of the show I guess...
As for seeing what they are wearing or what the actors have to say, I could care less...

Just visual effects and cinematography? Apart from Heath getting nominated for Supporting Actor, I would have loved to see them acknowledge that Dark Knight is a good movie--even if it were just a Best Picture nomination.
