Default Buying games new or used?

With some exceptions such as a close price, I usually prefer to buy a game used , as long as it comes with everything it had originally be packaged with.

If the difference in price is only like $5 dollars however, I would definitely prefer a new copy in that case.

How do the rest of you feel on buying used games? Does it bother you, or is it more important to just get the game you want for the price you want?

I buy used games all the time and usually buy from the same source so that I can get some decent deals and if one of the games is a bummer, I have little issues taking it back.

I dont buy anything used for the PC unless its from someone I know, if its for the console or something I am fine with used. And I have found some pretty decents games out there I never knew before.

We've always bought used games and had a problem with one only. As long as you have a store nearby that can easily switch your damaged game with another one, then I think buying used games wouldn't be a problem. One tip a GameStop manager told me: used games for PSP (in particular) is as good as an unused one because of the way the game CD / cartridge is packaged. Majority of the CD is covered so it's very difficult to get it scratched.

Well, I buy games new and used but of course I always ask to see the condition of the game before the purchase. Even if the game is in rough shape, getting it resurfaced is pretty cheap anyways!

It depends on the condition that the game is in, and how badly we want the game. For example, my fiancee shelled out good cash for Halo 3 even though he doesnt have a 360 yet, and the next day his little brother got one for five bucks
