Default Dust collectors

I hear so many people that are "adults" say they go out and get a new system and play it for a little while. Months later they wonder why it is collecting dust. Should we be buying other things to keep us occupied or is it okay to blow 400 bucks and watch it just sit there.

I vote for buying other things, or giving the money to me instead to pay of my college loans, lol.

The problem is as you get older the toys you want get more expensive and once you're an adult you don't have to ask mom and dad and get permission to waste your money on it. Rental systems at the video store is the best idea I've ever seen. Then I can rent a PS and a game and bring it back without spending hundreds and never bothering.

We do try and use ours every weekend at least, but there are only so many games that are fun to play in two person for long periods.

If you buy a dust collecter, it's only that much more useful for people like me who try to get the console or game I really want second hand when some of the buzz has died down.

As long as it has cool lights and buttons, then i see no problem in buying a $400 dust collector.... (I only saw that because mine are actually exactly that right now). I personally go in phases... I'll play like a maniac for a while, then go for a long spell and not touch it... then repeat the cycle all over again.

I know what you mean apero, it depends largely on what games are available at the time. Once you've beaten a good game, you stop playing until the next one comes out. Or, being an adult, you get distracted by something with a deadline.

I rather buy the game / system / both / etc / other because I may want it later and if I somehow can't get it later and knew I could have bought / received it earlier, I would shoot myself in the foot for it.

Kind of like how I completely regret getting rid of:

My Nintendo 64
Playstation games: Kartia: THe World of Fate, SaGa Frontier, Ogre Battle (now that I know what it's worth), Tactics Ogre (see previous set of brackets),
Gameboy Games: Pokemon Red, Pokemon Pinball

Those are just to name a few that I can think of. I was actually suprised I found a new copy of .Hack//Outbreak for the PS2, now I just need a new copy of Quarantine.

But as for dust collectors like my used Colecovision, Turbografx-16, Turbo Duo (the two Turbo's are dying ), I know I'll play them later - and as for the Turbo's, I know I'll try and get them fixed or take another try / look at them again.
