Default When Should They Stop

There are certain shows that have been in production for such a long time that they there are ten movies based on the show. When is it time to call it a day?

Default When no one watches

Generally, each sequel/new movie becomes less and less watchable for me. However, sometimes the creators get it right and keep our interest time after time. As long as each one makes money, they'll keep producing new ones. Usually that is a good clue that there are still fans around as the demand is there. When they stop making money, that's when it's time to stop.

Talking about anything in particular? South Park? Simpsons? Star Trek? Land Before Time?

Yeah, I usually stop watching after the first few movies or seasons. It depends on if they can keep up good writing, but it seems like a lot of times, especially with the movies, they change directors or writers, and it just goes to crap.

Any movie that can have a successful sequel and more after that like The Matrix is a rarity. I think movies that are a sequel after a sequel and so on, are just trying to milk everything for all it's worth.

It is indeed Star Trek that currently has me wondering. Star Trek Nemesis was an absolutely awesome film. One of the best I have ever seen. The action, the effects, the story line and the performances were all excellent.

And now there is a new movie in production and I am nervous about it. Enterprise failed, and to me that says that perhaps the fans are deciding that enough is enough. Of course I realise it could also mean that Enterprise was just horrible, but how much money do you throw at something before deciding to let it go. Enterprise would have almost indicated the end to me.
