Sleeping With the Enemy

I hadn't seen this film for a few years till it showed tonight. Of all movies it is probably the one that disturbed me the most when I first saw it, and I find it even more disturbing now, having gone through my own abusive relationship.

It was a real mess with your mind film. Did anyone else here get wigged out by it-or by another movie in a similar way?

I have not so much as even heard about this film, let alone saw it!

Can you tell me anything about it's plot or the genre or anything?

You have made it sound sort of like a thriller or a psychological drama, but maybe i'm wrong.

Ok, Julia Roberts plays a married woman who is being beaten and subjected to extreme cruelty by her husband. She decides finally that she has to get away, and that the best way to do that is to stage her own death-so that the guy doesn't feel the need to go after her.

She does it, makes a new life for her. But there are a few clues-and the guy cottons onto the fact that she didn't in fact die, and so he goes after her.

It really, really is one of the best thrillers I ever saw. It's old now-probably fifteen years at a guess but it remains as strong as it ever was.
