Default Looking for a particular title

Maybe someone will be able to help me with remembering a title? Several years ago (could be 10 or more...not sure) there was a movie on television about the aftermath of a nuclear disaster? I don't remember all the details about it but I believe it was made for television. I remember it scaring the pants off me as it seemed to be a realistic view of what could happen in the event of nuclear war or accident.

The movie you discribe sounds like "The Day after"...
It was a made for TV movie about the effects of a devastating
nuclear holocaust on small-town residents of eastern Kansas...
Take a look at the preview below and see if that is it...

I remember that movie! That one terrified me at the time. With the Cold War still going strong, a lot of people were worried about the wrong person hitting the "big red button". There was a lot of buzz about the story back then.

I had to watch that movie in high school (in the early 90s)... I remember how much that film freaked me and all my friends out.

There was a book like it too, I think it was called Z is for Zachariah... or something like that.
