Computer DVD Player-Region

Ok my laptop offers the chance to change region on the DVD player. It states that you can do this four times, at which point the machine will be locked into that last choice forever.

What is the point in offering this? Is it for those among us who might move countries-that seems a little far fetched really.

download 'anydvd' and install that. have it set to remove region code and then you can play anything on it. its what i have.

For the record, it seems to be a goodwill offering to let you try out a different region 4 times.

A friend of mine bought a DVD in Scotland and I was able to copy in to region 1 for him, so that's a nice application if you happen upon something like that.

But if you're into rare and foreign discs, than Fakeshemp's suggestion works the best.
