Default Favorite John Wayne film?

I can't be the only John Wayne fan in here - tell me what your favorite movie or character is. My favorite is Rooster Cogburn, "Fill yer hands, you son of a b----!" Loved that line and the look on the Duke's face when he said it.

I loved Rooster Cogburn, too! In fact, I enjoyed most of JW films which can't be bad because, as a rule, I hate Westerns!

I think it goes back to my childhood days when we went to the cinema (or the 'pictures' as we used to call it) on a Saturday morning - this was when Flash Gordon the FIRST version was all the rage - and then we'd settle down to watch the movie of the week and if it was a Western all the little boys would doing their own voice-overs and generally causing mayhem before the usherette would come along and hoik one out of his seat if he was sitting astride the back of the seat in front pretending it was a horse

As a little girl I would always associate Cowboys & Indians with snotty-nosed little boys

I double-double enjoyed my recent trip to Sedona and Coffee Pot Mountain where I could envision for myself JW riding through on his horse!

I forget the name of the film but I liked the one with Dean Martin in it as the drunk partner.

Would that be Rio Bravo? Dean Martin plays the part of Dude?

I loved Dean Martin as well. Some a charmer although in real life, of course, probably hell to live with!

I think my favorite John Wayne movie was True Grit. I'm really not sure why. That movie has just always stuck with me. I also liked McClintuck. There were a lot of funny lines and scenes in that one.

I'd have to say my favorite John Wayne movie was this really old one that I saw on late night TV called "The Searchers"...
Its been a while back and I've only seen it the one time, but I thought it was really good...

The Sons of Katie Elder was one of my favorite John Wayne movies. I only liked his westerns, not his war movies. Rio Bravo was also very good, too.
