Default Region codes on Blu-Ray

Does Blu-Ray also have the region code stipulations as do DVDs? I think these 'restrictions' are useless and should be done away with rather than be carried over to new technology.

Now Collyweed I don't know why you would think these restrictions were useless...
I'm sure that by implementing these codes that the movie industry sold many more movies...
There objective is to sell as many movies as they can... Now you can take your player
to most any electronics repair shop and they can modify your player to play any of the
disc for a small fee... Or you can probably just do a online google search and find imformation
to make the modifications yourself... And I think the following information should cover
anything you want to know about these codes on Blu-Ray...

Couldn't agree with you more. I'm surprised they didn't make the DVD discs "fade" after so many years :P

It's for this very reason that I thing region codes are useless. There are regionless players on the market and hacks abound to get around the system. So why bother putting them in this new technology? Many thanks for the information.
