Default The Devil Wears Prada

As assistant to impossibly demanding New York fashion magazine editor Miranda Priestly (Streep), young Andy Sachs (Hathaway) has landed a job that "a million girls would die for." Unfortunately, her heaven-sent appointment as Miranda's personal whipping girl just might be the death of her!

I have to say this was one of the best movies I have seen lately. I am an avid fan of Meryl Streep (she is an excellent actress, as seen in "Sophie's Choice", "Bridges of Madison County", "The Hours" to name just a few of her movies) so you can imagine I was redy to see this one too.

First I thought it's an "easy" movie, but, even if considered a comedy, this really "glows". There is no second you get bored there: many things happen, many images are presented, a lot of irony to be "smelled". I have seen the movie 13 times already and believe me each time I find something new. It's just amazing.

The music is very nicely picked, very good sountrack too, it's all very dynamic and interesting.

As for the "devil", really I see many women nowadays in such position. A man can be "tough", a woman is just "bitchy". She is "the devil" if she's being strong and very good in her job. Imagine the entire fasion business relies on this woman. The designers don't even dare present a collection if she's not pleased. She is indeed the devil, but God she is good in what she's doing.

As far as the little missy is concerned, I found her to be weak. Some claim "OK, she hates the fashion", but still she was able to do some awesome job there, once she started thinking and really working. And the latest days were pretty enjoyable to her.

Don't see how much a journalist career can be better, but I assume we had to have some "conclusion" there, an educative morale or something like that.

The nice thing was that even if Anne was the leading actress, she was just eclipsed by Streep's awesome acting. Just as in Queen (when Helen Mirren just didn't have any actor match her acting) "The Devil Wears Prada" was a "one actress show" or something like "Meryl Streep and some other guys".

Anyway .. SEE the movie, it's awesome ;)

Well, I can tell by the trailer that you would have to chain me down
and tape my eyelids open to make me watch this movie... A bunch of hens and
gay guys buzzing around a office building talking about fasion and make up...
No, I think the CopyCat will miss this one... I sure it has some good acting in it,
but its just not my cup of tea...

I didn't try to watch it in the theaters or rent a DVD for it. My sister had to drag me to watch the DVD with her and I had fun watching it! I don't think I'll go for reruns though.

Hi hi .. I do find it funny to see them run like idiots to please her.

I loved 101 Dalmations too and there were some similar things in the 2 movies. From there I started loving Glenn Close who was MAGNIFICENT in such a role. The "getting out of the car" scene is pretty similar and both seem to make their employees panic. The difference still was that Cruella was really sick (with all that puppy stuff) and hysterical, while Miranda was devilish in her coldness.

The movie doesn't want to be a masterpiece (even if as a comedy I really found it to be good), but it was well made. Meryl Streep was just awesome, that I cannot say enough. I was glued to that DVD for days. It was a nice watch and a funny one. Even at the 12th re-run I would still laugh hysterically (and my movie watching time is 1 at midnight, imagine how pleased my neighbours were :D))

I did not think that it was that bad. I liked it because you did not need to think to hard to follow it. It is a good girls night movie. My husband would not be caught dead watching it.
Some days I wish I had people running around for me, as long as I wasn't a raging lunatic like Meryl.

I was looking forward to this movie so much, but when it came down to it I was hugely disappointed. The trailers had me expecting a comedy for some reason and the finished product was anything but.

The ending was touching, but other than that I found it sorely lacking.

My boyfriend and I loved watching the Devil Wears Prada. Actually he only liked it because I told him to. I enjoyed the good girl turned bad girl fashionista turned back into good girl fashionista.
