I think I am one of those rare people that is just simply not a big Bruce Willis fan, albeit I still manage to enjoy his movies. Seems like a contradiction, to which I fully admit, but this is the tangled web I weave.

Now, that being said, I will admit I am a fan of the Die Hard movies (though I resisted watching a single one until about six months ago). With the release of Live Free or Die Hard, I was intrigued - but not enough to spend the bucks to go to the theater. This one was one to look forward to on DVD.

For the most part, the movie lived up to the Die Hard series. It had tons of action, likeable characters, lots of good explosions and booms to give the subwoofer a bit of a workout. The story was actually rather engaging with the appropriate dashes of dry humor. It had everything going for it - until the last 30 minutes or so of the movie. Without giving any spoilers for those that haven't seen it, let me just say that the climatic action scene at the end of the movie was totally over the top. It lacked any possible realism, the special effects were surprisingly weak and for this movie goer, it insulted my intellegence.

Why movie companies have to try to push the envelope time and time again to "outdo" the last one in ways that are so ridiculous is just beyond me.

Had it not been for that last scene, this would have been maybe a 4.5 out of 5 stars movie for me. Unfortunately that last bit cost at least a half a star in my book, so chalk this up as 4 out of 5

I never liked any of Bruce Willis' previous films so much and fell asleep in the middle of them. I thought this latest Die Hard installment would be a lousy attempt at fame for him but it wasn't. A tip to enjoying the movie, as ridiculous as most of the stunts may seem, keep an open mind and believe for two hours that they can actually happen and that a 40-year old man can actually pull them off.

I watched this film on Thanksgiving with my brother, husband and both kids. I loved it! It's totally action packed from beginning to end and allows Bruce Willis to show off his caring "daddy" side at the same time.

Yeah, so it was a little "out there" in places. That's one of the parts I liked so much! The extra large explosions, the stunts that would kill someone if they actually happened... who wants to watch a movie like this with stunts that are believable enough for some idiot to go try them in real life? :) I watch movies for the fiction and the "out there" stuff!
