The story begins in the year 2057, as our Sun begins to die and mankind faces the unthinkable: extinction. Earth�s last hope lies with the Icarus II, a spacecraft manned with eight men and women led by Captain Kaneda. Their mission -- to deliver a nuclear device designed to reignite the Sun. Deep into their voyage, far out of radio contact with Earth, the lonely, restless crew hears a distress beacon from the Icarus I, the ship which disappeared without a trace on the same mission seven years earlier.

Interesting concept and I was really hoping this movie would be a good sci-fi one with interesting concepts and theories. It won't be along the lines of Armageddon as I initially thought it would be. It was more like Armageddon that suddenly turns into Event Horizon.

The gist of the story happens when the team hears the distress beacon of it's predecessor Icarus I. They go to the ship with hopes to salvage a 2nd nuclear device thus giving 2 chances instead of 1 to restart the sun.

It's eerie, there are some cool nerdy scientific concepts but then I thought the ending wasn't too original. It's interesting to watch although if you have it on HBO, there's no loss watching it there than going out of your way to rent the DVD.
