One of the writers came out and said there was a scene they had already planned for the 3rd that involved the Joker in the shadows of his cell in Arkham. They said they could still execute the scene without ever actually seeing him, but I bet they don't film it at all. It was to be a scene where Batman had to get info from him to solve something. Considering how closely he had to be working with the mob in the DarK Knight, that would have been a very cool scene.
I would rather not see anyone step into that roll at all. Leave it be. If they did by chance do it, I would like to see a complete unkown in the roll. |

This will be a part 3, so they should just probably call up Adam Sandler and Mike Myers to play brightly-colored villains.

Given who they've cast as villains so far, I'm pretty sure they will avoid stars and go with actors for the next film. As for Joker, I'm not going to guess, because I never would have cast Ledger, and I know plenty of people who were ready to riot when they did.
I do think they should not abandon their plans for Mr. J. Ledger was a fine actor, but he didn't create the character, and there's no need for them both to die. He put a lot of work into this film and I think he would have hated to think that his stupidity would derail the franchise. |

I think that maybe the Joker should just be left to history at this point. Ledger totally owns the part forever.
If they were smart (which they won't be, as all third entries in Superhero films are legally required to suck) they would make part 3 based on the 'detective' aspect of Batman, with a deep and twisty crime mystery. Keep the outlandish villains away and concentrate on the real criminals.

They need to pay respect to Ledger by letting the story continue on without him. Recast. Evolve the character.
He could have been participating in some serious self-mutilation and have his insanity go off the deep end and you could have a more intense Joker played by another actor and have it just be evolution, and no one would really mind a recast. I don't mind Katie Holmes' recast. i quite enjoyed Maggie this time around. Sure we'll miss Heath, but I think not bringing the character back is monumental mistake. |

You people are all wrong except Todd. Ledger would hate to have nobody continue the Joker. Sure it would maybe give him some competition for best Joker of all time, but if there is somebody better, not saying there is, they should show their talent and be recognized for the talent they are! It would also completely stink up the Batman set of movies. Who the hell is Misterd to say "I would have never cast Heath Ledger as The Joker"? If that's true, then I doubt you would be in the movie business very long. Sorry Snookumsnort, but your husband is wrong. Johnny Depp is not a maybe yet for the role of The Joker. But I would love to see it and am sure everyone else would too! Johnny Depp is the greatest! However it is a maybe that he will play The Riddiler in the next Batman movie. Which also would be awesome! Anyway here are my picks for who I would love to see play The Joker, and who could! Jim Carey - I know, I know he was already in a Batman movie, one that a lot of people didn't enjoy too much but, just because the movie wasn't good doesn't mean Jim Carey's performance as The Riddiler sucked. Beside's that, he has come a long way as an actor. I think he is a brilliant actor! It would be great to see him play a demented joker mixed with a little bit of jokerness. As long as he doesn't do the whole role goofy but just a little bit and more demented. I mean that is how The Joker is, and I think he would be a very convincing Joker! Maybe even through Harley Quinn into the picture! Adam Sandler - I know it sounds like a goof, but he is an amazing actor when he's not doing comedy. I think he would be able to cross the lines between demented and goofy as The Joker wonderfully. I would really like to see him as The Joker! Jack Nicholson - I know he's old, but if he can do it, which I doubt, it would be great! He was the best Joker ever until Heath Ledger jumped in the picture, and maybe he could step it up another notch! Maybe a mix between the first Joker he played and his role in The Departed! Johnny Depp - Pretty sure their only thinking about casting him as The Riddiler, which is an awesome plus anyway, so it wouldn't bother me either way, but I think he would play a very convincing joker. I need not say more, I mean, He's Johnny Depp!!! Leonardo Dicaprio - I dunno, somebody just mentioned this on a thread the other day and I was trying to picture it but couldn't. I guess it would just be interesting seeing his side of The Joker. It's not like he's a bad actor or anything. He's come along way since the Titanic, when he was very over rated. Now he's awesome, did you see The Departed? Cicillian Murphy - His eyes are freaky! He's evil, did you ever see 28 days later at the end of the movie where he just goes insane, freaks out an starts killing people left and right! Man, that was like one of the greatest scenes ever! I think he would be VERY convincing as long as he worked on it. I mean, as a pshyco in that movie Red Eye, he wasn't so great, that movie sucked! But if he can pull out another performance like he did in 28 Days Later he would be phenomenal! Benicio Del Toro - This guys way under rated but awesome! Still hoping he's coming back for Sin City 2, but i would love to see him as The Joker! Shit by the way...I just remembered Cicillain Murphy is The scarecrow, sorry I'm in a fog today! Gimme a break! Also if Christain Bale wasn't playing Batman he might be good as The Joker, he's a good phsyco Last edited by muffinman; 08-26-2008 at 07:11 PM. Reason: spelling error |

I think based on how many Batman's there have been they may be open to recasting the Joker's part.
I'm not sure if I think they should or not, but the thing that always stand out for me in a successful Joker is the mouth. The Joker has an amazingly large mouth. Jack Nicholson has one in his Joker, Ledger had one in his. I don't think Depp would hack it although I'd love to see his take on a Joker.
