I'm pretty ambivilant about this film. I saw it opening night with a friend.
When this movie hit the mark it was great, and hilarious. When it was off, it was really, really off. Brad Pitt and J. Jonah Jameson were the hit of the film. I loved every second of their performance. Everyone else seemed forced...except Malkovich. He was typically bizarre. The language didn't rival THE BIG LEBOWSKI, but it certainly felt that over the top. I really don't think the dark humor was that great because i wasn't invested in the characters. It seemed like the cast was compensating for the script. The truely funny moments I laughed at were well deserved and felt whole heartedly. The rest of the laughter was almost in spite of the film. I'm not sure I'll buy this one. |
