I'm sure you're right, yet at the same time I'm living fine without it, so go figure

I mean, I still wear out cassette tapes. Could be worse I suppose. Could be wearing out 8 track tapes.

I can't remember the last time I actually touched a cassette tape - do the even make players for those any more?

My car still has a cassette player, I also have three CD/cassette boom boxes I have where the CD players have long since died but the tape player/radio works. To answer your specific question, yeah they still make players. Most I've found at bargain basement type stores like Walgreens etc. I think the reason the technology hasn't completely fallen away is that they can still make radios small enough to take the tapes and they're probably likewise very cheap to make.

I've seen 'em in Rite Aid stores, CVS etc. as well.

I think I've still seen some standalone cassette players around, but they're most often by mail-order, like Crutchfield or something. Plus like Binkley said, you can get these all-in-one smaller stereos for your bedroom that have cassette decks built in.

My car stereo has a factory installed unit that has both CD and casette in it, very cool since I still have a fair amount of cassettes with some decent sounding music on it, but they still don't sound nearly as good as CDs.

The last CD I received was given to me as a gift, I think. I can't remember the last time I actually bought a CD at the store.
I use itunes all the time so I can pick and choose what I want to pay for.

I mostly do it the old way which is to go into the store and look around until I find what I like. Recently I have bought a few on the net, mainly Ebay.
