Default What Movies Are For?

For me, that would be for the realization of what human beings are. It is where dreams portrayed and history reminisced. That is the reason I registered in this forum, to share my thoughts and learn from you guys about movies.

I find movies are a great way to distract the kids for a few hours, and they might even learn a moral lesson or two if you pick the flick carefully.

I think movies are more about being 'an escape' or transformation into situations that we would want (or not want) to be in... a way to get away from our normal every day lives and live through the mind of another...

That's my deep thought of the day.

This is also one way of saying what I have said in my introduction.

Even sometimes, movies are the mirrors of the future. Sci-fi movies are not just for entertainment but the creation of new science that could be realize in the future.

I want to live on Babylon 5! :D OMG I miss that show. I have every season and every movie dvd set.

But anyway.. to answer the OP's question: What are movies for?

I agree movies and games can be an escape from the every day. A good movie or game can pull you in and make you a part of it so you walk away feeling a sense of accomplishment, joy or sadness. The emotions of a well written movie can carry over into your attitude for the rest of the day.

So in a sense, movies can also be a pick-me-up to help improve your mood
