Of course it does. Its still a question is it not?
![]() The point is there is an ever growing gap between the written and spoken forms of grammar. The problem becomes when the person uses incorrect capitalization, ellipses, and over emphasis with end punctuation as well. One or two isn't bad but overkill will...well...kill you (metaphorically speaking).

I think the 'Net has fostered a much looser and informal way of communicating which should not be confused with traditional grammar. I don't think we care much for the traditional rules as long as the general point is being communicated. Punctuation marks are one thing...what would you say about speling?

Spelling and grammar are falling to the wayside and abbreviated typing (like text-speak) is becoming more and more common. I think it is sad!
My personal pet peeve is the usage of "whom". It is falling out of our language and no longer required, but it REALLY gets me when people use it, because they want to sound smart, but then use it wrong! They should just not use it at all. |

There are a few spelling errors that are forgivable - getting confused between US or UK versions of the same word for example, or hitting a nearby key and being unable to edit your posts. But, teh ppl dat tlk lik dis ta b kewl, or speak in lolz, need a wake up call. I've started to hear people talking like that in person.

I can't even understand that, and don't have the time to try. It achieves nothing but confusion and so I really do not understand the point in it. It's not like it saves time-at least things like lol and btdt have a little purpose in reducing keystrokes in a conversation.
Grammar and spelling errors drive me nuts in all walks of life-both online and in the three dimensional world. Last edited by AbigailD; 03-25-2008 at 02:10 AM. |
