Maybe its because of the law of child abuse that made these kids more aggressive nowadays. I too have a taste of the old way of disciplining and I'm glad that I was raised like that even though it was tough. I also think that media like movies and TV shows influence today's kids like for example Harry Potter which I see him somewhat as a disobedient boy. I'm expecting much criticism from my comment and I will stand my ground.

I think the problem is too much sedentary lifestyle, too much tv, too many scheduled activities, and not enough just being a kid running around outdoors in the appropriate outlet for this energy.
I don't have kids, but when I do they will not be hit. I want them to respect my rules because they are logical and my authority because it is just. I don't want them to fear me and hide bad activity. |

I try to control my kids outside. It's just difficult because I feel it's a damned if you do damned if you don't situation. If you're harsh, people might have your head for it. If you're being lenient, they'll have your head too. I'm just more strict at home so that when we go out, they know that they have to be more well behaved.

My parents never laid a hand on me and were more than able to teach me its not appropriate to act like a wild idiot in public. I think some of it can be blamed on people criticizing parents for being too lenient or harsh, but it had to start somewhere....people didn't just decide to start interfering one day at random-no they got fed up with snotty kids kicking their seats, bumping into them and yelling like monkeys. I agree 150% I don't have kids and I don't want to deal with other people's kids. If I wanted to deal with brats I'd borrow my nieces.
