Movies on TV

I don't get why people watch a movie they own on DVD when it comes on TV! I went over to visit my parents yesterday, and the entire Lord of the Rings was on. My mom was all excited because it was being shown in HD with limited commercials. Forget that she OWNS THE EXTENDED VERSIONS ON DISC. NO commercials. Why bother?

She does this all the time, by the way.
