The Price of Gas

Getting just a little bit expensive to drive anywhere. I can't believe how much it costs to fill the tiny tank in my little car. It can take almost 50 dollars. I know in Canada here we pay hefty gas taxes that aren't helping but you Americans are starting to really suffer too. When will this stop? It's getting to the point where I can't really afford to drive to work each day.

It's marginally better on the Ontario side here but we are really feeling the pinch too. I will be checking my bicycle to see if I can start riding that to work when the weather is good. I am hoping it won't bother my back too much because I really have to do something to bring down the bills.

Went up almost half a dollar just in the past week in my area. Price changed every time I drove by a station, I swear. It's insane and it's driving up the costs of everything else from groceries to utility bills.

Yesterday I gassed up at $3.71 per gallon and spent $48 total. The gas tax in the state I live is around 35 cents per gallon which doesn't help. Of course, the cost of gas affects the price of everything you buy. Our grocery bill has gone up about $40 a month in the last year.

I have a new vista scooter that gets 80 mpg. But i can only ride it if the weather is nice. my old car only gets about 20 mpg.

It is downright ridiculous, especially when it is obvious that it's all about geo-politics. Separate and apart from the fact that we need to wean ourselves off oil from the Middle East, we need to reduce our reliance on energy from oil....more quickly than we are doing now.

I've been thinking about getting a scooter myself. Are you in a big city and if you are do you feel safe enough in traffic? I am really strongly considering getting one especially since I see more and more of them around.

And don't you just wonder if five or ten years from now we'll be talking about the good old days when gas was only four bucks a gallon? Seems hard to swallow that would ever be the case.
