Default Concession Popcorn

Why is popcorn made and the theater concession so much better than what I can make at home? I'm not using real cheap microwave popcorn either. I buy the best I can and I even tried to add my own butter. It just isn't the same.

Its the kettle cooking that makes it better picodoll...
I found the one you see in the picture above at the linky
I have below for $21.95... It works right on the stove top

Just follow the instructions that are included...
Just click on the popcorn for linky...

i have that and it works pretty good. you just need some oil, the seeds, and the seasoning of your choice. just be careful when cooking that the oil doesn't spatter out, because that can burn! otherwise it works really well and the popcorn is delicious!

Thanks for the link. I'm going to try and find a Canadian supplier. I'll get thrashed on the shipping and chances are they rip a strip off me on duty too. I'll find it in pretty short order though. At least I know what I'm looking for. I am looking forward to scarfing down while watching some movies at home. I am such an addict. Thanks to Pico for asking too. My kids and I are for ever in your debt.

If you find a Canadian supplier please post the link or the info in here. Then I'll be in your debt. I've paid duty on something stupid before like that and learned my lesson. Almost doubled the price for crying out loud.

Found a place to get it before you did Iceman. Everything I found online ships from the US which doesn't solve the problem. For anybody looking for physical locations check out this link. Whirley Pop Stovetop Popper Purchase Locations
Unfortunately there is no vendor listed for Quebec. Nearest one is in the Ottawa area.

Now I have to find an excuse to travel that direction.

I've found air poppers with appropriate flavored oil works just as good as a fancy kettle. Orville Redenbacher makes a butter flavored oil which is similar enough to the movie theater stuff to cancel out the health benefit from air popping.

See, and I actually prefer the at-home versions. I think the key to making it like the theater does is to find the right balance of seasonings and butter flavoring, even without having a special popcorn popper.

Well I can tell you what your problem is! You're eating microwave popcorn.

I pop Orville on the stove. Just regular veggie oil. Yummy. Soooo much better than movie popcorn.

I am the same as Layla-I always cooked my popcorn in a pan on the stove-I actually use the pressure cooker without the weight on it, so that it vents but the lid cannot get pushed up and get messy. As long as you don't do it in a nasty microwave, it comes out great.
