There are many sides to the problem with providing relief. I was doing some reading about it the other day, rather random as I don't particularly like world politics, but it highlighted that the aid received has been given out where the government officials had photo ops to show it being done. It also mentioned that they were focusing on rebuilding and not particularly as much on removing the bodies, etc as we would should we be helping. Its hard for human nature to just help as asked and not how they think we should.

I would love for the government to allow aid to their people but I can definitely see where allowing the US particularly to help would be a disaster on top of a disaster for them.

I understand the issues of letting in another military, but what about the issues of letting your people die? Is that why can't they accept donations at the border and move it in themselves?

I think I have a pretty good hunch as to why they don't want Westerners in
there country... Its because there scared that we would inadvertently tell
there people what a screwed up government they have... And also they
would see that Westerners were not the wicked, immoral, vicious
people that there governments propaganda makes us out to be...

Or covering up the fact they weren't planning on doing too much to help their own people. For all we know, they might have thought that's a couple hundred thousand less people to potentially reject their authority and revolt. Course, if they continue to disenfranchise the survivors, they'll have that problem eventually anyway.
