Angry Bad Bad Bad - Being a Bitch about Mother's Day

What I missed most about Mother's Day this year is actually being pampered. All of a sudden, a steakhouse lunch c/o my hubby doesn't seem special.

What is so frustrating is that I asked that we all go to the outlet mall so that I can get shopping done. With 2 kids below 2 in tow, my aunt, and my husband, we all went to the outlet. The first thing I say is "I just want to go to Furla, Gap, Banana Rep and Disney Store". The first thing my husband says is "FURLA?!? What can I buy there?" Take note, I'm spending my own hard-earned money and not his!

What's worse is that when I was near the stores I wanted to buy from, my husband suddenly leaves to do some shopping on his own. I hardly got any shopping done!

Then on Sunday, he goes to the gym in the morning. Leaves the kids alone to wake me up from much needed sleep. And in the afternoon, he goes to play tennis with a friend. We go home, I buy a KFC dinner because I didn't like the thought of cooking but I still ended up washing the dishes. On top of everything, he has the gall to ask "Why aren't you happy this Mother's Day?" Go figure!

Sounds like you need to put your foot down and draw a line.

I second that idea, turnabout is fair play. You definitely need to talk to him and explain that while what he intended for your Mother's Day was fine, how it was executed was not acceptable. If you want to shop, he needs to make his wants fit around your needs. At least for one day.

I think I would be freaking out as well if that was my Moms Day, so don't feel bad at all. I ended up spending the week before and now the week after being sick, stuck up on some heavy meds and sleeping a ton. I slept right through my day!

Why are you upset with your hubby? It was MOTHER'S DAY, not wife's day. How does that work? I don't agree with you at all.

Hmmm. Maybe because I am a mom and I thought that was supposed to be a special day for me? Or maybe because I specifically requested that for Mother's Day, all I wanted was to be able to get some shopping done. You're not my hubby or a friend of his by any chance are you? Hahaha.

Mothers day, wifes day. Makes no sense to me why we shouldnt just be consistent in our approach to one another. You ought to be able to shop any day of the year without request of any kind. If you find yourself having a strict role in the household, and expectancies to meet, then you're sacrificing your own liberties for the sake of someone else. And that's not right in any way.

Well she's the mother of his children and should have been spoiled rotten for the day! Heck, even if the kids were by a previous marriage (I don't know any specifics here, just making a point) the fact that he is her husband, they are a family and he should love her enough to want to make the day special for her.

It's one measly day out of the entire year that is set aside to acknowledge all the important things a mother does (and sacrifices made) day in and day out, so the least the slob (sorry, anger vent here) could have done was to suck it up for one single day and put his own selfish wants to the side. It's not like she was asking for any extravagant gifts or outlandish requests. She wanted a bit of time in the day to do the activities she wanted to do. You would think that somebody that loves you would be willing to at least do that much for an afternoon rather than act like it was just such a horrible inconvenience. Shame on him!

I really hope you don't knock yourself out for him on Father's Day. What do you normally do on that occasion?
