![]() I only see these things as a small annoyance and for the most part I can tune them out... I mean it would take someone screaming in your ear to drown out the booming theater sound sytems of today... I myself keep my cell on vibrate all the time and leave the room if I get a call... But of coarse not everyone is not going to be that considerate... I just see this as part of life, you learn to deal with it... Other wise, your going to be pissed off a lot... ![]()

I rarely go to the theater anymore as I much prefer to enjoy a movie in the privacy of my own home. That way I can use the bathroom or stop to get a snack whenever I feel like it. If I went and people were yakking on their cells or having them ring constantly, I would be livid. Our local theaters all have a "no cell" policy-if they go off in the theater the patron can be told to leave.

Where the heck did you go that doesn't have a no cell phone policy? I haven't been to a theater in almost a decade without one, both in the states and abroad in many places....I think you need to talk to someone above the person you spoke to. Its unacceptable to treat a customer with a valid complaint like that. I know having run projectors for many years I complain when the movie isn't lined up right, and usually get a set of free passes for doing so. And thats only a couple cms of the movie getting cut off (top or bottom).
I haven't had an issue with such things when I go to the theater, although I don't go often as its almost $10/adult here. But since I don't have a 5k flatscreen/plasma TV and a 2k sound system, let alone a 500 buck HD system its worth it for a truly great film to see it in the theater.

I really used to go to the movies a lot but if you go see a popular film and the place is packed it is just too noisy for me even with the booming sound. I also like the ability to be able to pause a movie and use the restroom. I can't tell you how many times I've purchased a movie because of parts I missed in the theater because nature called. I did talk to someone else in the theater and they said they will be running a short snippet before each film about cell phones starting on the 1st of June. Who knows, I may go back but if I do it will be while school is in session and the place will be mostly empty.

I too have been, locally, to theatres without a no phone policy. It's just horrible having people actually making calls during the movie! They shout so loud to get over the volume of the film!
Even our kids when we take them all out in a group are quieter and better behaved. |

We have a fairly strict theater as they just remodeled and expanded to theater seating. They send the ushers around four times while the movie is playing on average and they will kick you out for talking, cell phones, or outside food. Its the least they can do after charging almost $10/ticket.
