I don't use chemical weed killers on my yard, and you just gave a really good reason to not do so!

Sorry you killed your plants.

lol, I've only used weedkiller once. The grass between the bricks in the walkway was about to my knees and ruining the level of the walkway. Didn't work well enough to deal with poison though.

.....^^ Not to worry, ^^
.........I'll get over it...

You ask the winners of better homes and gardens and see what they tell you...
I'm just not very good at that stuff... If I would read the instructions
and follow them, I'm sure I would do a lot better...

Monday evening when I got home from work and went outside to get some soil and I potted a few seedlings. I am trying out tomatoes and sweet peppers now, I have a few packets to plant but I am experimenting with these first.

I've planted jalapeno peppers, chili peppers, bell peppers, cucumbers, vining tomatoes
and grape tomatoes in pots in my back yard... But for the life of me I don't know why...
I should realise from years gone by that I would be much better off to take all the money
I spend on planters, soil, fertilizers, weed killers, bug killers, gardening equipment and plants
and just buy food... I mean I spend $200 dollars or more on all this junk and most of my
plants usually get knocked over, or eaten by wild and domesticated animals, or just die
from neglect...I'll be very lucky if I get $20 dollars return on my investment...
Does anyone else do this or is it just me ???

Carl I'll have you know that cat-nip is not a weed...
It is a necessity of life and needs to be planted in large quantities...

I have been at both ends of the fence, I have planted and tried to grow things, only to have them dry up because of neglect or eaten by wild animals, I have also been successful and reaped really lovely veggies, so I am trying to get back on track.

I would love to have a large garden but I absolutely hate weeding which I think would be a requirement for a healthy garden.

I have planted some raspberries and tomato plants this year and so far they are growing like crazy. Last year I had a lot of berries and they were delicious.

So is there anything much that can be done to stop critters eating up our veggies? It's bad enough that insects are munching the leaves, but I am worried about losing the crop to them too.
