I am working on this project and I share a cubicle with another grad student, and we listen to audio tapes for the work, and I can freaking hear her chewing her gum LOUDLY over the tapes. I'm listening too. it's freakin' disgusting, like sharing a cube with a cow. There. I've said it. I like her, outside of her annoying habit, but, come on, CLOSE YOUR MOUTH.

Like a cow chewing their cud huh? haha I would politely tell her that she needs to knock it off before you duct tape her mouth shut so that she can no longer chew it.

LOL, reminds me of my old housemate who always chewed with her mouth open. It was AWFUL. The worst was when she'd eat soup. SLURRRRP then chew chew chew.

I second the duct tape threat. Some people will never realize how gross and loud they are without being told. And you can always put on your headphones and pretend to miss her hurt face after you tell her.

I have been told that I have a annoying habit of popping gum when I chew...
But what fun is chewing gum if you can't pop a few thousand bubbles ???

When she is in the middle of her chewing trance one day I would say to her, 'why do you do that'? I am sure she would ask "what" and then I would answer. Sometimes people are not aware of how bad it looks and sound.

I know chewing with my mouth closed was something taught by my parents. It's just plain old proper behavior. I've no advice here. But it just goes to show that good manners are becoming a rarity.

I know that most people would not be offended if you just ask them to chew with their mouth closed because the sound is breaking your concentration.

Honestly even when it's pointed out to them some people don't fix it. I don't know how many times I pointed out to my mother that she does it, and instead of stopping she went from opening her mouth maybe two chews per mouthful to never, ever, shutting her trap.

ARG! I had to arrange meal times to never be when she was eating, or I couldn't stomach my own food.

I don't have the balls to tell her, but really, you think people would not be offended and hurt if someone mentioned it to them, even politely? I know if it was me I would be mortified.
