More Toxic Toys

I read today that there are a bunch of popular toys being sold out there that contain toxic substances. It almost sounded like the reason they have not been pulled out of the shelves YET is because the law that makes them unsafe won't be in effect until FEBRUARY 2009!!! What is irking me the most is that toy manufacturers are taking advantage of legal loopholes in search of more profits...all at the expense of the consumers, and worse, the children! If they were good corporate citizens and knew a law next year would make their toys officially unsafe, they should willingly just pull those items off the shelves NOW!

This news came as a surprise to me especially now that my holiday shopping is almost done. I guess that means I have to save the receipts and tags to make sure I can return them next year.
