Membership drive!

As I noted in my Blu-Ray thread, it seems that new membership has been reduced to a trickle lately. As well, most of the threads are just sort of the 'Blah Blah' variety as of late.

What can we do to bump up active on-topic membership?

I have no problems with the Blah Blah threads, but being as how this place is called Flixray, as in Flix=Movies and Ray=digital media, I thought maybe we'd want to get some more movie enthusiasts stopping by.

On that same note I think the movie section should be moved in front of the main lobby and that the opening credits should be moved into the very top section. I think there is too much to get distracted before you even get to the movie section. Just a thought.

Okay I shimmied some things around to get the movies section more prominent in the general order of things. Another much welcomed suggestion... sometimes I just keep adding as I go and then neglect to give the overall layout proper consideration. Can't hurt to give it a go anyway.

I am at your service for any and all suggestions... anything you need from me just holler away.

Seriously though, I seem to remember that Flixray has picked up members through Youtube posts, is that correct?

It would be nice to find a way to get the site's name out there a little to attract some more movie-minded members (Ahhh! The alliteration!).

I like the new format. Putting the movies section on top makes a lot of sense.

I agree... sometimes the most obvious things just manage to avoid finding me sometimes.

I can look at trying to do some creative YouTube campaigns again.. .though I still owe my buddy 'Time' a drawing, so that will definitely come first... but yeah, good idea as well! I'm up for anything... Copycat on the street corner wearing a speedo and a cardboard sign with 'flixray.com' on it... dragging people kicking and screaming from other sites... maybe even a few incentive contests at some point? I"m not proud - whatever will get the job done!

I don't even know how this works, but I know that pictures that I sometimes pull off of Google Images
some how get linked to my threads or posts... So that anyone clicking on that image on the google site
is sent to that thread or post... Case in point is the Cloverfield monster image below...
Because of this unexplained phenomena the "Anyone waiting for Cloverfield?" thread
has had over a hundred thousand people look at it... I think that is probably a FlixRay record...
But it would seem that if we could get these images linked to our site when ever we wanted to
and not just by chance it would be a good thing... Does anyone have a clue as to how this happens ???

You and Aperio know more about that type of stuff than I do.

When you look at the main forum page, it lists how many people are viewing each category. Sometimes there are double-digits for a few of them. We need to find out how these people just happen to end up here, and how we can entice some of them to join us.
