I half fell in love with it at the outset of the show, but in truth I became rather lukewarm about it rather rapidly. It just seemed like another crime show when there are so many out there already and it didn't have anything that held me other than David.

Aw, really?
How far into the series did you go before you gave up on it, if you gave up on it at all. Do you still watch it? The characters have evolved quite a bit and if you can invest in the characters, it makes it much more interesting now. They still have the crime stuff, but there are several character driven plots. In "The Woman in Limbo" at the end of season 2, Temperance identifies what ends up being her mother's remains. Then towards the end of season 1/start of 2 they develop the Angela/Hodgins relationship. More tension but fun with Booth and Brennan. I could go on and on. I didn't immediately love this show when I first started watching. I watched it once in a while with my parents and then my roommate last year loved it but I didn't really pay attention. Now I'm obsessed and want as many people as possible to watch it so I can talk about it with them. The bloopers are pretty funny too. They're up on Youtube if you search Bones bloopers. |

I dont mean to double post but it makes me sad this thread has kind of disappeared and has received little to no action/love.
I'm bumping this because last week was the season finale. Did any one watch it? And the week before - Brennan singing "girls just wanna have fun" ? Priceless. Oh and on the 17th, I went into NYC with a couple of friends to watch the celebs on the red carpet at the Farm Sanctuary Gala and then waited afterwards and we were able to meet a few. I got to talk to Emily Deschanel, Bones herself, and get a few pictures with her. She is such a friendly, sweet woman and answered my questions with such enthusiasm. I asked what advice she had for an aspiring actor... ie me, and why she went to BU rather than any other number of art/acting schools like NYU. Please tell me with the new members here there are more Bones fans. |

I did actually watch the episode where the lady was singing karaoke and the guy got shot. (Can you tell I've never watched the show prior to this?) I'll be honest, when I saw the episode I was mildly interested in seeing the outcome.. .however, by the time the week went by and it was Monday again, I lost interest. I think I've now become bitter and sour (oh wait i was anyway...) when I got hooked on Crossing Jordan only to realize it was cancelled, so now i just sneer at everything else.
My friend absolutely loves the show though, if that's any consolation (thus how I actually got roped into watching that one episode in the first place). |

I can't say that I'm a fan of the show, but if it's on I sometimes stop and find myself catching the whole thing.
I'm a huge Buffy fan and I recently watched all 5 seasons of Angel, so I find David Boreanaz usually manages to liven up a show.

For the acting advice - take classes. As many as I can. Just take classes and learn. and why she went to BU - apparently she applied to NYU and got in, as well as many other school. She rattled off a bunch that I don't remember but Carnegie Melon was one. She said she wasnt quite ready for the "big city" so she went to BU. Boston is still a major city but smaller and more of a college town than a big metropolis like NYC. But she said a school in NYC would offer a more rounded experience and she wish she had that. And her costar, Michaela Conlin (who plays Angela), went to NYU and LOVED it. She was so enthusiastic when talking about the school stuff. I tried to tell her I was really just joking around and only asked because we had a friend who goes to BU and never shuts up about it but she really wanted to answer the question. Aperio - that episode was Wannabe in the Weeds. Second to last ep of the season. Brennan (Emily Deschanel) was singing, Booth (David Boreanaz) gets shot. If you have any friends who own the dvds, borrow and watch. I cant plug this show enough. Once you get into it, youll love it. I started off not caring about the show but this season I fell in love with it. |
